Tom joined SSI from the Southwest Research Institute where he has worked for the last three years as team member on the Rosetta mission. During that time he worked on the Ion and Electron Sensor studying the interaction of solar wind with a cometary ionosphere. Tom graduated with his doctorate in Physics from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2013. His dissertation focused on the magnetic structure of corotating interaction regions and plasma instrument design with Mihir Desai and Stefano Livi, respectively. He received a bachelor's degree in Physics from Texas State University in 2006. While originally from Texas, Tom has lived in Scotland and Nigeria, and currently resides in Portland, Oregon.
