Giovanni Lapenta is an expert on space science, plasmas and high performance computing. He has worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory, at the MIT and at Politecnico di Torino in Italy. Currently he is full professor of mathematics and space weather at KULeuven in Belgium and research scientist at SSI. His interest include the Sun-Earth connection, space science and space weather, astrophysical processes and laboratory plasmas with emphasis on plasma thrusters and nuclear fusion. In computer science he is focusing on exascale research, artificial intelligence and high performance algorithm. But his true calling is in European football (soccer) and his heart beats only for one team: Forza Toro!
