Ryan Maguire earned a B.S. in mathematics and physics in 2016 and an M.S. in applied mathematics in 2017 from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. After graduating, he worked with the radio science team for NASA's Cassini mission at Wellesley College, where he developed numerical techniques for processing diffraction-limited data to produce high-resolution profiles of Saturn's rings.

From 2019 to 2024, Ryan pursued graduate studies in mathematics at Dartmouth College, earning an M.A. in 2022 and a Ph.D. in 2024. His research focused on globally hyperbolic spacetimes and Lorentzian geometry, as well as connections between contact topology, knot theory, and general relativity.

From 2024 to 2026, Ryan was a postdoctoral associate at MIT, where he returned to the study of Saturn's rings, developing high-fidelity methods to create extremely high-resolution profiles from archived Cassini data. After leaving MIT, he became Senior Member of Technical Staff at the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, where he researches the mathematics of spaceflight and navigation. He joined the Space Science Institute in 2026, where he now continues his research on Saturn's rings.

Outside of mathematics and physics, Ryan enjoys writing music, rock climbing, and tinkering with low-level programming.
