Bill Farrand has worked extensively in terrestrial remote sensing as well as in the field of planetary science. Bill is an expert in the field of "hyperspectral" remote sensing (alternatively known as "imaging spectroscopy"). Bill is working at SSI on several projects. These include working as a participating scientist on NASA's Mars Exploration Rover (MER) mission. Bill is also working on a project examining volcanic domes on the northern plains of Mars. He is also working on a terrestrial remote sensing data examining the spread of minerals from a pair of mines in western India using AVIRIS-NG hyperspectral image data.
