Ben Horowitz's work focuses on novel application of techniques from machine learning to connect simulations and observations. In particular, he builds differentiable models for the cosmic web allowing reconstruction of the initial conditions of the universe from observed data. He is a member of the ongoing Prime Focus Spectrograph survey, leading the large scale structure working group within the Galaxy Evolution survey.
