Pat is a Senior Research Scientist at SSI with experience in both theoretical and experimental physics. His undergraduate training was in electrical engineering from Michigan State University and his graduate degrees are from the University of Michigan in mathematics and plasma physics. He has specialized experience in plasma waves obtained through fifteen years at Princeton's Plasma Physics Laboratory working on wave applications in magnetic fusion, as well as twenty-five years of experience in accelerator physics at Fermilab and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He is currently interested in radiation belt physics and potential wave-based remediation strategies. He carries out his research efforts from California's Central Coast.
